Preorders Open for the Maen Hudson GMT
GMTs are my new favorite thing, especially well-designed, attainable, sub-$1000 GMTs. One such GMT is the Hudson GMT from Maen Watches. The brand - which is run by a couple of Dutch gents who make produce Swiss-made timepieces - took their well-regarded Hudson 38 and built a GMT on top of it.
This is definitely a good thing; the Hudson 38 MK4 is a solid watch and hits a good sweet spot at 38mm wide, with a 12.05mm thickness and 46mm ug-to-lug distance. The GMT version takes the exact same case and adds the GMT complication that's powered by the Soprod C-125 Swiss-made automatic movement. Even with the GMT complication, the watch still maintains its 12.05mm thickness.
I had the opportunity to get hands on with early prototypes at the Windup Watch Fair in New York this past fall and the watch looks and feels great. It wasn't available for preorder at the time so I wasn't able to buy it then, but preorders are available now.
The watch retails for €719.20, which equates to about $757 USD. Preorders will continue through Dec 12, 2022. Shipping will start July 2023, so we'll all be waiting for a while. Having seen the watch in person, I think it'll be worth the wait.
